A surgery is scheduled for your loved one, and you may be concerned about post-op care and the recovery process. Depending on the procedure, your loved one may stay in the hospital for several days, may be encouraged to go to a short-term rehabilitation center or it may be decided that your loved one may recover better in their home.
Do you live out of town, work full-time or need an extra hand to help your loved one with basic needs in the immediate days post-surgery? Do you live alone and need an extra hand? Who will prepare meals, help with showering and help with transportation to doctor’s appointments once you or your loved one is home?
Until you are going through this process with a loved one, you may not realize that there are services available to help with all stages and needs. The help of an expert can ease your concerns of how things are going to get done and how you will take care of the day-to-day activities once you are home. You may only need a little bit of assistance or your health care team may have provided a comprehensive post-surgery care routine for you to follow. You are not alone in this process.
